Carolyn Jones

“Having taught in public schools for twenty-five years, I appreciate the added dimensions of fostering spiritual growth and Bible knowledge which are parts of Lift.  Reading one on one with a child presents amazing opportunities to clarify reading skills and to share my faith in Jesus.  Instead of going home to the TV or video games, our Lift kids experience a wide range of enrichment activities during the two and a half hours after school on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and Thursday.  Lift is fun.  Lift is life changing.”
Bio: Carolyn Jones currently blesses Center Christian Church in Fairmount, IN, as their senior pastor’s wife.

“Lift is reinforcing foundational literacy skills, promoting confidence in reading, and supporting children with the strategies they need to improve their reading.  Beyond academics lies the heart of LIFT, it’s connection to the children that is so desperately needed…the human connection.  I have witnessed the excitement and anticipation from the children who attend LIFT.  They feel the connection with the volunteers and staff.  They learn with their head and their heart at LIFT.  LIFT makes a difference. “
“I have been on the teacher side of LIFT from its inception and partnership with Eastbrook Schools.  I worked as a colleague with Mrs. Colleen Yordy (First Team Leader) for several years and was happy to partner with her in getting children involved in the program.  I have advised the LIFT volunteers and staff on reading interventions and worked with them to help individual children gain reading success.”
